Community and Charity
Over the years, The Rockpool Group has been heavily involved with a number of charities, charitable events and community projects.
From OzHarvest and The Starlight Children’s Foundation, to Bear Cottage, the Steve Waugh Foundation, CanTeen, Camp Quality, The Prostate Cancer Foundation, Sydney Children’s Hospital and more…we pride ourselves on a strong philanthropic focus and enjoy our place within the charitable spirit of our community by involving ourselves in necessary events like the Josephine Pignolet Award, The Age Young Chef Awards and The Lexus Young Chef, Young Waiter and Young Restaurateur Awards – all vital in ensuring that Australia continues to place itself at the forefront of international hospitality. We also don’t mind having a say when it comes to Earth Hour, sustainable produce and doing the right thing by our oceans, and of course standing alongside Greenpeace in the fight against genetically modified crops.
Some of our greatest moments in fundraising have been those of The Ultimate Dinners, instigated in 2005 as a fundraising activity for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Each year or 2, with the assistance of some wonderful partners in the form of Qantas, Park Hyatt Sydney and Vittoria Coffee, Rockpool brings out a couple of the world’s greatest chefs to cook alongside Neil and a handful of Australia’s finest. Our suppliers supply the produce, the wine makers the wine, our staff donate their time – it is dinner of mammoth proportions that excites all who attend. These dinners sell out well ahead of time; the next now scheduled for March 2011.

bestest
The Best of the Best for Kids…raising funds for children in need. Could there possibly be a better reason to get involved?
When ‘bestest’ first came into fruition in 2006, Neil Perry sat on the inaugural board and for the next 3 years, Neil and Rockpool created one of the years most anticipated dinners. We gathered the country’s (and occasionally an international) 50 best chefs and turned Sydney’s Horden Pavilion into one large and mighty fine kitchen.
